    Position Description:

    With a small support staff in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, the organization is currently building its team in Sierra Leone to aid in its expansion of its programs.

    OVP is seeking two full-time Program Coordinators for our Nurturing Opportunities for Women (NOW) program in Bunumbu Sierra Leone. NOW is a financial literacy and women’s empowerment program offered through an innovative picture-based, interactive method to reach low-literacy women to unleash their natural ability to set, plan, and achieve financial and life goals. The Program Coordinators will have the opportunity to work directly with women’s groups, to build the capacity of women’s financial skills and knowledge.  The person(s) will be a member of the Sierra Leone Team and report directly to the Program Manager. This position’s primary responsibility is to facilitate sessions and support participants as they work to meet their financial goals. He/she will assist in the development of curriculum and monitor the participant’s progress. The successful candidate will be a hands-on participatory facilitator that mentors and motivates women to meet their goals.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Program Implementation and Participant Support (55%)
      • Master NOW tools and session plans
      • Facilitate and co-facilitate sessions of the NOW program
      • Conduct weekly home-visits with participants
      • Assist participants with budget creation and implementation
      • Mentor and motivate participants to reach their financial goals
    2. Program Development and Quality (20%)
    • Assist in the development of M&E plans
    • Assist in the adaptation of current curriculum to the needs of the participants
    • Assist with creation of program tools and materials
    1. Documentation, Learning and Reporting (20%)
      • Observe and record observations during all sessions
      • Document best practices, lessons learned and success stories
      • Record and document all home visits and information gathered through participants diaries
      • Report regularly on program progress
      • Maintain detailed records of participant participation and progress
    2. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

    Preferred Skill Sets and Qualifications:

    Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, a masters an advantage
    • At least 2 years of overall professional experience in a related field
    • Strong facilitation skills and at least two years’ experience facilitating or teaching
    • Experience with savings group programming, managing finances and or microfinance groups
    • Proficiency in Mende
    • Excellent written and spoken English language ability and communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ease in computer based tasks

    • Willingness to commit to 2 years contract, living and working in rural Sierra Leone
    • Flexible, resourceful, persistent and willing to do what it takes to get the job done

    Administrative Assistant Intern

    Position Description:

    The Administrative Assistant Intern is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance and Operations in ensuring that the organization’s main office runs smoothly.

    The Administrative Assistant Intern position is a minimum six month commitment with OneVillage Partners.  Interns are expected to work 10-25 hours a week, during regular office hours.  As the OVP team is relatively small, applicants must be comfortable working with a close-knit group in a casual and dynamic atmosphere. This internship can receive course credit.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Working 10-25 hours per week, the Administrative Assistant supports all aspects of OneVillage Partners’ operations in the U.S. Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Take meeting minutes
    • Create Word documents and Excel spreadsheets
    • Conduct web searches
    • Assist with systemization of database
    • Maintain paper and electronic files
    • General clerical duties, such as scanning, copying and mailing
    • Assisting at events, as needed
    • Other tasks as requested

    Preferred Skill Sets and Qualifications:

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Administrative experience preferred
    • Written and oral communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently
    • Energy, enthusiasm, and innovation in problem solving.
    • Understanding of computer programs and software including Microsoft Word and Excel, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and experience in conducting internet research.
      Preferred Education and Experience:
    • Experience in database management or finance.
    • Understanding of or experience with QuickBooks and Donor Perfect.

    Events Photographer Volunteer

    Position Description:

    Throughout the year, OVP has opportunities to share our work at formal events and house parties. We are looking for a volunteer who will play the important role of capturing the highlights for us to share in our newsletters (print and online) and social media.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Working 2-4 hours per event to capture the highlights. Our next event will take place on Wednesday, October 21.

    Preferred Skill Sets and Qualifications:

    1. Experience photographing events
    2. Own digital photography equipment
    3. Passion for making a difference in people lives and background in African development
    4. Excellent attention to detail
