We have exciting news! The Stanford Social Innovation Review recently published a profile on OneVillage Partners that is now available online and in their Summer 2023 printed issue. Titled “The Nonprofit Decolonizing Itself,” Sierra Leonean journalist Eric Kawa writes about the roots of our organization and how it came to be during a wider movement of international aid groups after the civil war in Sierra Leone. The profile also dives into OneVillage Partners’ process of decolonization and highlights stories from local communities about how they have identified challenges and guided the work to overcome them. Check out the article to read about what it has looked like to shift power so that the vision and strategy are led by Sierra Leoneans, how this intentional choice shows up in the work today, and what this will mean for the future of the organization and our resilient partners in Sierra Leone.
